Report: Aleksander Sekulić set to become Barcelona’s new head coach

According to reports from Spain, the Slovenian coach has reached an agreement with Barcelona and is expected to finalize the deal in the coming hours.

Barcelona is reportedly on the verge of appointing Aleksander Sekulić as its new head coach, according to multiple reports from Spain.

The Catalan club has been searching for a successor to Xavi Pascual, and the Slovenian tactician has now emerged as the leading candidate to take over the bench.

According to the reports, Barcelona has already reached an agreement with Sekulić, who is currently in the Catalan capital to finalize the remaining details of the deal before his appointment becomes official.

Sekulić enjoyed an impressive 2025/26 season with Dubai BC, guiding the club to the Adriatic League (ABA League) championship. His success at club level further strengthened his reputation as one of Europe’s rising coaching names.

In addition to his club achievements, the 47-year-old has served as head coach of the Slovenian national team since 2020, having previously been a member of the national team’s coaching staff since 2017.

If the agreement is completed, Sekulić will take charge of one of Europe’s biggest basketball clubs as Barcelona begins a new chapter under his leadership.
