Isaiah Canaan is reportedly close to continuing his career in Turkey, with Trabzonspor reaching an agreement with the experienced American guard, according to Basketfaul.
The 35-year-old, who previously played for Olympiacos, has reportedly agreed to the terms of a deal with the Turkish side. However, the transfer is not yet fully completed, as Canaan must first undergo the necessary medical examinations.
Trabzonspor is paying particular attention to his physical condition because Canaan suffered an ACL injury last season. The club therefore wants to make sure he has fully recovered before finalizing the agreement and officially welcoming him to the roster.
Canaan brings extensive experience at the highest level of basketball. During his NBA career, he made 235 appearances, representing the Houston Rockets, Philadelphia 76ers, Chicago Bulls, Phoenix Suns, Minnesota Timberwolves and Milwaukee Bucks. He averaged 8.1 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 20.4 minutes per game.
After his NBA stint, Canaan continued his career in Europe, playing for UNICS Kazan, Galatasaray, Olympiacos and Crvena Zvezda.
If he successfully completes his medical tests, the veteran guard is expected to officially become a Trabzonspor player.
